The research "Chroniqueers" questions the multiple intersections between experiences of chronic illness and LGBTQ+ identification. It investigates the narratives of 24 young adults aged between 24 and 39 in Italy and Portugal. Chronic illness is seldom explored in its rela-tions with LGBTQ+ experiences; at the same time, sexual orientations and gender identities outside the cis-heteronormative norm are rarely present in studies on chronic illness. In the context of job insecurity, weakness of the legislative framework for LGBTQ + people and centrality of a family-oriented culture, the experiences of LGBTQ + people with chronic ill-ness constitute a litmus tests of multiple forms of social and economic vulnerability. The article analyzes some of those emerged in the Italian sample, with specific attention to significant in-terweaving aspects between visibility, care and precariousness.
Keywords: chronic illness; LGBTQ+; precariousness; care; visibility; narratives.
