From Lübeck to Sicily: Professor Adolf Holm (1830-1900) The essay reconstructs the biography of the German historian and archaeologist Adolf Holm, and in particular takes into consideration his studies on ancient Sicily, which earned him the publication of a work in several volumes on the history of the island, as well as his appointment as extraordinary professor of universal history at the University of Palermo (1876), on the initiative of Michele Amari.
