Diversity Management (DM) as a tool for enhancing diversity within complex systems has conquered the scene within large companies in the world and in Italy. In fact, this issue is also characterizing the Italian context, albeit with a delay (as in other European countries), compared to North America and the United Kingdom. DM aims to enhance diversity within complex organizational systems: age, gender, ethnic/cultural origin, skills and other diversities certainly represent an asset for companies, not only from an economic point of view but also, and above all, from a cultural point of view. Here we present some results of the empirical investigation carried out, with the aim of understanding how diversity is considered and addressed ‒ in particular that of gender ‒ within some organizations, in an attempt to identify specific elements capable to favor the inclusion of women in complex systems.
Keywords: diversity; social inclusion; group; innovation; gender issues.
