Nouvelle histoire de la Commune de Paris, 1871 by Jean-Louis Robert is an extraordinary summa of the historiography about the Parish Commune and, at the same time, shows that innovative discoveries can still be made on this topic. Robert immerses himself in the everyday life, and in the practices and mentalities of the protagonists: the workers, the proletarians but also the craftsmen and a republican bourgeoisie who did not yet oppose the workers. The book also help us to better understand also the traces that will remain and the breaks of these mentalities in the future of the Parisian working class.
