The essay looks at the Italian Third Mission by observing some projects in marginal contexts and the regulatory frameworks in the national and international context. The perspective of community planning and community development support a reflection on the role of experts and the territorial impacts of these experiences. The conclusions concern the challenges of the Third Mission both internally within the university and towards the many stakeholders mobilised.
