This work provides a quantitative analysis on the factors which stimulate exports in Italian provinces. Among others, emphasis is given to local creative class, as defined by Richard Florida. Using different data sources, the estimates show that creative class does not have any significant effect on the export intensity of the province. This effect materializes when the local endowment of creative workers interacts with the innovative capability of the province and, above all, with its manufacturing specialization. Creative and manufacturing employment, thus, are complementary inputs in the export equation.
