In the last decade, the concept of territorial cohesion has acquired a growing relevance in the framework of the European policy arena. The paper presents an analysis of territorial cohesion as a discourse, with the aim of explaining its success and diffusion. The paper focuses on the contents of the territorial cohesion discourse, on its implications in terms of European territorial governance and on its role in the wider context of the European integration process.
