The author presents a report on the Giornate di Fiesole 2015 and the Seminario Romano which also took place that very year: about one hundred COIRAG thera-pists took part to these two events which offered a perfect frame for exchanging thoughts and foster training on clinical tools as they are used nowadays. Observa-tion as defined by the rules of psychoanalytic theory was set as guiding principle. How to observe and what to observe when practising psychotherapy cannot be set once and for good because the object of investigation, the soul-psyche, is very complex to delimitate and cannot be reduced to clearly-defined areas and func-tions. While refusing any reductionist tendency and keeping in mind the heteroge-neity and continuity of various therapeutic models as they are put into practice within COIRAG, the present work aims at offering food for thought on therapeutic practice and its characteristics with special reference to contemporary, social and individual suffering.
