An example of vulnerability today is, in my opinion, the behavior of couples (and singles) with regards problems linked to having children. Their behavior is increasingly more "programmed" by such practices as contraception, voluntary pregnancy interruption and artificial insemination. The study I made in Ferrara, a city with only 0.8 children per couple, aimed to analyze the work carried out by a voluntary Centre (‘Sav’: Life Welcoming Service) which tries to support life and combat the low birth-rate. The results of the study showed that concept of vulnerability can be linked above all to a series of unstable and uncertain relationships which can be interpreted as stage halfway between integration and dèsaffiliation (R. Castel).
