The paper deals with Dario Antiseri: in Italy he is the main supporter of compatibility of classical liberalism with catholicism. Moreover he thinks that market society is the best frame in order to spread catholic values and put them into practice. The speculative justification of these convictions is based on a fallibilistic epistemology. Antiseri underestimates some fundamental elements of catholic culture which are irreconcilable with classical liberalism. From a catholic point of view, his epistemology doesn't apply in metaphysics and his conception of society in terms of market and individualism doesn't cohere with primacy of solidarity principle.
