Methods and Results Starting from the location theories and, particularly, from the models of hierarchical arrangement of settlements, the method here suggested proposes to identify these central places of economic, social, manufacturing activities, not on the basis of their own attraction force, but moving from the central cities profile in regard to the typology of services offered generally to enterprises and people. Conclusions Once empirically verified, the proposed method enables a more precise pinpointing of the poles, as it allows the integration of different information (data on services supply and on daily commuting).
