An unrepeatable season - By using a thick correspondence, the article reconstructs the plot of personal relationships between Piero Calamandrei, his family and a group of Turinese intellectuals, former members of the Partito d’Azione. Networks of personal friendship played an important role in the history both of Giustizia e Libertà and its heir, the Partito d’Azione: they also outlived the end of the party itself as an organization. The letters also point out the role of Piero’s widow, Ada, whom the Turinese friends helped in keeping Calamandrei’s memory by editing his writings. In his posthumous diary Piero and Ada’s son, Franco, would later throw more light on the difficult relationship with his father.
