Introduction - The category of responsibility is presently, and more than ever, placed at the crossroad of dilemmas that pertain to metaphysics, ethics and politics. A new decisive perspective for future philosophy is suggested by the etymological meaning of the term (from the Latin re-sponsare, re-spondere, i.e. to take a solemn commitment of religious character): a transition from an ethics of responsibility to a politics of making responsible, which calls for the constitution of free and co-responsible subjects. Rejecting the modern individual’s original purported autonomy, they should be able to constitute themselves as truly autonomous through relational and conflictual practices of co-responsibility.
Keywords: Co-responsibility, Ethics, Globalization, Individual, Political leadership, Responsibility.
