Carlo Pisacane nel Risorgimento Italiano by Nello Rosselli, published in 1932, is not only a classic in Italian contemporary historiography, but also a text in which the political use of the past plays a central role. This means neither forgery nor invention of the past. Nello Rosselli offers a new outlook on the Italian Risorgimento and a political interpretation of one of the most controversial figures, Carlo Pisacane, considered both as a man of action and as an intellectual. An interpretation promptly adopted by the Italian anti-Fascists on the appearance of the book in 1932 and likewise deeply shared also after the fall of Fascism.
