The author starts with the presentation of a case study in order to show the functioning of the process of self-and-interactive regulation in bioenergetic analysis. The patient’s bodily experience and the exploration of this experience on the bioenergetic stool are essential for the meaning of the experience, a meaning which represents the ultimate goal of the process of regulation. The therapeutic relation also evinces the implicit meaning of the defensive modalities in the relation. Understanding the physical as well as the relational movements fosters the awareness of the ongoing therapeutic process and allows an attunement which is called communion and communication. This communication is a non-interpretative sharing of the first-person experience is realized by body work.
