The Church’s increasing attention to the media and the need to diversify broadcasting let to the introduction and gradual consolidation of religious preaching in radio programmes. The author of this article focuses on the earliest experience of radio-apostolate, the talks given by Franciscan friar Vittorino Facchinetti in the Fascist period. Facchinetti’s sermons, published in various collections by the friar himself, show a great variety of subjects. These sermons, ranging from the sacred to the profane and broadly influenced by fascist ideology, appealed to a large and heterogeneous audience.
