Through the reconstruction of the history of the publisher Rizzoli, the essay tries to offer an interpretation of the mechanization process in the field of illustrated press in the first half of the Twentieth century. The main focus is on the introduction of graphic illustration techniques derived from photography and on their use, after the mid-Twenties, in the transition towards productions with wide circulation, which has been the basis for the success of the company brand in the publishing world.
