The article describes the main features of the process of transformation concerning the shifting of European Union’s policies and strategy that passed from the idea of the promotion of the sport as economic fact, toward the idea of the promotion of sport as social fact. To this aim the article implements and in-depth analysis of documents, projects, policy statements, speeches that have been recently disseminated by the European Institutions and the Member States with the aim to promote the so-called social sport. Particularly, the article focuses on topic such as the intercultural dialogue, the fight against discrimination and the sport for all since they well represent the process of transformation and the procedure of europeanization through the sport.
