Somatic experience is here presented in the frame of reference of gestalt therapy: a phenomenological, relational and aesthetic epistemology. These "roots" of the concept of bodily experience address the therapeutic view towards the movement that both the patient and the therapist co-create, with complementary intentionalities. Concepts like integration, function of self, olism, aggression, support to the now-for-next, are revisited to the light of bodily experience. Clinical examples of various forms of suffering of the body-in-contact, from anxiety disorders to desensitizations, to somathic disturbances are described. Finally a few therapeutic competences, basic for working with the body in gestalt therapy, are presented.
Keywords: Body therapy, movement, gestalt psychotherapy, phenomenology of body-incontact, anxiety disorders, desensitizations, psychosomatic disturbances.
