The article examines a collection of Adorno's texts from which it emerges that the philosopher, contrary to current prejudices, did not want to deny the value of the mass culture, but tried to emphasize the advantages related to spreading the cultural instruments through the new technologies. In parallel, another reading key is proposed: in those texts also other thesis emerge related to musicology underlying problems like, for instance, the fact that between the work of art and any story to it related - including reproduction and popularization - an unsurmountable space remain such as to make it very problematic to bring any analysis of the work itself to an end.

Keywords: Musical analysis, music sociology, music popularization, consumer music, music criticism
