The present study is the first attempt to investigate the question of missed sessions in cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy. This topic largely debated and regulated in psychoanalytic psychotherapy is poorly treated in cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy. At the end, we have constructed a questionnaire that was filled out online by psychotherapists, members of SITCC (Italian Society of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). The questionnaire was constructed to investigate how therapists manage the payment of the missed sessions, their difficulties in dealing with the issue with patients and their opinions on the subject.
Keywords: Psychotherapeutic contract, payment of psychotherapy fees, missed sessions.
