This research examines the relationship between the nobility of Vicenza in the Mainland of the Republic of Venice and the court of Emanuele Filiberto during the sixteenth century. In 1404 Vicenza gave herself to Venice, and throughout the fifteenth century the city remained faithful to the Serenissima. The author studies numerous unpublished documents relating to the network of the Vicenza aristocracy. In the sixteenth century, some members of the noble families of Vicenza did not approve of Venetian politics; they thus approached the court of Emanuele Filiberto, where they attempted upward mobility. This may be one of the reasons why nobles Piovene and Godi moved to Turin. From Piedmont, these nobles of Vicenza controlled the market of silks and began to develop skills for Army careers.
