Giovanna Marano has a long trade union experience. In the interview she describes her activities and commitment to gender policies focused both on individual self- fulfillment and on the dignity of work. The interviewee expresses a special recognition for the women national leaders of the CGIL, who have greatly contributed to the changing of women’ role within the union itself, over the last twenty years. The interview ends with her current experience as Councillor for Economic Development of the City of Palermo, where she aims at redesigning services and simplify procedures, giving a feminine style to politics, whose primary goal is to reactivate the processes of participation.
