The journal Casabella during Vittorio Gregotti editorship (1982-1996) is one of the most interesting experiences of reflection on architecture theory that occurred in the recent past and basically for two reasons. Firstly for the content matter: the Casabella critical fortune is symptomatic of the high profile that the debate on the journal reached in those years. Secondly, for the method: the journal has always been presented to the public with the ambition of being a ‘place’ for constituting a critical look at reality. In this essay it is proposed an analysis of the cultural project of the journal starting from the most significant number of this production, Architecture as a modification published in 1984. It is, in fact, a kind of manifesto that contains all the most important thoughts on the project theory expressed by the Casabella editorial staff
