This essay presents the relationship between science and politics during the early years of the Soviet era as interpreted by Silvano Tagliagambe in the work Storia del pensiero filosofico e scientifico (1970-1972), edited by Ludovico Geymonat, one of the most important Italian philosophers of science of the twentieth century. In particular, it shows the different standpoint of Tagliagambe (and Geymonat) towards two theoretical focal moments: the first revolutionary period, dominated by Lenin’s view, and the period after 1928, which was influenced by the needs of the planned economy.
