The paper investigates the role of urban agriculture (UA) in reconfiguring urban spaces and in producing more sustainable city and a healthier food system. The survey was conducted in two urban gardens located in the city of São Paulo. The paper demonstrates as the UA’s individual and collective practices promote a more sustainable urban development by contributing to the reduction of social, economic and environmental inequalities.
