Following the arrival of the first migrant boats from Africa (and beyond), the small island of Lampedusa has been transformed into a sort of stage. The mass arrival of television operators, law enforcement officers and military personnel has meant that the image of this small island as the "last" frontier of Europe has spread throughout the world. Little by little a "wall" was built in the middle of the sea, transforming Lampedusa into a stronghold of the white and civilized world.
Keywords: Lampedusa; border; frontier; Mediterranean; migrations.
