Covid-19 puts enormous stress on health procurement to ensure the purchase of critical devices and services. This article, based on interviews to many healthcare stakeholders, sheds the light on the main challenges faced by the public health procuring system during the outbreak and discusses the emerging role of public-private collaborations to pave the way towards a more strategic approach to it, which will prove useful in the aftermath of the emergency to face the emerging socio-economic downturn.

Keywords: Healthcare procurement, Covid-19, public-private collaborations, strategic procurement, centralisation.
