The security of women seems slowly to enter fully into the political agenda of national and local governments. However, this is not the case for female safety in seemingly safer and more protective places such as family or relationships. What happens in those relations still seems to be a private matter and does not represent a problem which, on the contrary, is a social fact. The aim of this work is to present an analysis of the trend of domestic violence during the lockdown period. The sources of the data are the ISTAT e D.i.Re, bodies that have continuously and systematically highlighted the social issue of gender and domestic violence. In addition to the quantitative analysis we have deepened the topic from a qualitative point of view by using three interviews addressed to Privileged Witnesses, this has become necessary to better insert the data in a conceptual and theoretical frame able to return the complexity of the phenomenon, the importance of the presence of services on the territory and the work carried out by social professionals.
Keywords: Key words: domestic violence; gender violence; lockdown, pandemics; anti-violence centers and services; telephone number 1522.
