The presence of an Islamic minority of about 5% of the population in Great Britain poses the problem of the Islamic law (Sharia) coexisting with the traditional Common Law. Since 1982 new institutions - namely, the British "Sharia Courts" - have been taking into account this problem of legal pluralism, which propose to solve Muslim family-related problems in Great Britain according to the Islamic law. This generated the serious resistance of the movement"One Law for All", requiring a unique legal system for everyone living in the country.
