At the present, marked by the frequent and widespread use of private motorised means of transport, pedestrian mobility is increasingly considered an element of quality and a proper access and use of urban public spaces. For these reasons, the ability to access and walk in the city, as well as to have areas suitable for walkability has become an objective of urban policies of redevelopment and revitalization of neighborhoods, also in order to increase the tourist at-tractiveness of destinations. Walking is a multi-sensory experience that allows the actors, citi-zens or tourists, to feel themselves part of the places they cross and visit, savoring the signs, images and immaterial elements that make up the atmosphere. The essay deals with the subject by giving attention in the first part to pedestrian mobility and access to urban spaces. The sec-ond part is dedicated to the theme of the slow rhythm of experiential tourism and interventions for the improvement of tourist accessibility in some Mediterranean cities.
