This review discusses Gianluca Fantoni’s recent monograph Storia della Brigata ebraica. Gli ebrei della Palestina che combatterono in Italia nella seconda guerra mondiale. It aims to contextualize the attention dedicated to said military unit in re¬cent years, and especially to put into perspective the relevance of the heated symbo¬lic clashes that have contributed to reshape rituals and rhetorics that characterize National Liberation Day celebrations (April 25) in Italy.
