The career professional is here analyzed as a social actor in the context of the Third Sector. This professional lives in a conformal space characterized by changing power dynamics, status alliances, role conflicts and economies of scale in a context of social transformations where practices and concepts are to be viewed through the anthropological lens of the gift. The paper will attempt a qualitative definition of the reflexiveness grade in professions of care (themselves relational subjects) as a dualisation of vulnerability between the seeker and the social workers. In accordance with Pierre Bourdieu’s works about habit for-mation and its correlation to the professional mosaic of the sector, the paper hy-pothesises that the economic actor can be the result of a capital combination (economic, cultural and relational) and the legal a priori called Politique de la Ville: this refers, also in the Italian case, to a form of geographically localised sovereignty generated by the rewriting of the Constitution’s Title V (2001) and the wider ramifications of Act n.328 of Italian law (2000). This text will try to ex-plain that both are required for the functioning of the social work system, aside from contributing to the end of the Trente Glorieuses, but also plays a role in re-defining social agents. The subject/object duality of this professional trajectory interplays with the norm within a non-linear and asymmetric process without guaranteeing a solid social positioning. The operator will be methodologically investigated as the outcome of a biographic trajectory underpinned by a vulner-able state correlated to polysemous roles of dependency and creativity.
