This article focuses on a small project concerning a green infrastructure promoted and funded in a deprived neighborhood of Bari (the main town in the Puglia region) by EU structural funds: the Lama Picone linear park. This project has introduced innovation in urban regeneration local practices, due both to its addressing sustainability and landscape preservation, and to the involvement of citizens and their associations. It can be considered the outcome of a series of broader urban regeneration, planning and landscape planning processes, as well as of social innovation practices that contributed to a new vision for the development of this peripheral part of the municipal area. During the implementation of the project several problems have occurred; these can be useful to reflect beyond this specific case.
Keywords: green infrastructures; social innovation; urban regeneration
