In Italy, the digital transition of the water service is still in its early stages. Digital-ization is present in interventions related to districting and volume measurement in the process, but it is still not widely spread in the measurement of final user consumption. In the coming years, its potential clearly points toward a more re-silient infrastructure, capable of adapting to the effects of climate change and supporting a more rational use of water resources. While these tools are revolu-tionary in aqueduct management, a strategy for their development is necessary, accompanied by the training of human capital and a reorganization of compa-nies. Hence, a management transition is also needed to accompany the digital transition.
