The paper presents an original reading of the textual occurrences related to the Kingdom of Sicily and its history in the Cronica by Salimbene de Adam (13th century), as part of a reconstruction of the Italic peninsular space as conceived by Salimbene. The topic appears largely neglected in the massive bibliography on Salimbene and his work. Evidences, absences and textual recurrences (the word “Italia” above all), provide useful suggestions for establishing a renewed dialogue between the Cronica and some major chronicles relating to the Po valley from the 10th to the 13th century. The essay offers new elements to explore the possibilities to compose the two (or more) Italies in a single space – although intricate, politically fragmented, multi-layered – detectable between Alps and Sicily. .
