Law 62/2024 introduces a comprehensive reform of disability policies in Italy, placing the “life project” at the core and redefining assessment practices through a multidimensional lens. This paper explores the pedagogical implications of the new framework, grounded in the biopsychosocial ICF model and the principles of inclusive education, with a specific focus on the initial and in-service training of healthcare professionals. The analysis highlights how medical doctors and allied health practitioners are now required to develop not only clinical skills, but also educational, relational and interprofessional competences, within a perspective of shared responsibility in life planning. Special pedagogy emerges as an enabling knowledge, capable of guiding, supporting and educating professionals involved in diagnostic, rehabilitative and care pathways. The article offers a theoretical and policy analysis of the current scenario, identifying training as a strategic lever for the full implementation of the reform.
