In the new millennium, tourism law imposes itself with renewed vitality. The initiatives taken by individual countries to create a true "national touristic space" are leading to effective legal practices. On a national level, local and regional tourism organizations are being tested by strong central organizations, while the bodies that govern tourism are still trying to fit into the system. In this context, the need to define boundaries and limits of public intervention related to tourism, including the identification of the responsibilities held by supervising bodies of the tourism market, is constantly growing. The traditional vacation model has taken on new forms, including new types of tourism and vacation packages designed to meet special needs and specific desires of the tourist. The emergence of new technologies has forced changes in legal methods regarding tourism. Today’s information-, communication- and image-filled society have transformed business models and relationships of all who are involved in the tourism sector. The organization of tourist services has reached a high level of professionalism and legal practitioners are now called upon to respond to delicate and diverse issues. Changes in tourism law have also brought about changes in both commercial law and agricultural law; for example, correcting the traditional notion of a farmer, extending his definition beyond the scope of the farm. Procedural law has also been affected, as alternative methods of dispute resolution are gaining favour . Within this dynamic context, the latest issue of the Rivista aims to provide a comprehensive and effective way to orientate oneself in an industry that continues to expand its horizons. It is aimed at legal practitioners and tour operators who are interested in finding practical answers and efficient solutions for business and legal assistance. It offers sample contracts, documents and materials with proven experience, giving particular consideration to the necessity of consumer protection. It takes an in-depth look at the experiences of public administrations involved in territorial governance and management of socio-economic phenomena. The Rivista ensures timely information on the work of leading tourism policy-makers (of individual regions and of the European Union), identifying the main administrative procedures and addressing tax issues. It aims to contribute to the development of higher education and scientific research through the study of specific topics of interest and critical reading of significant legal decisions. Dedicated contributors to the Rivista, both Italian and foreign, offer distinguished scientific input and valuable experience on the study of each matter.
