The journal aims to: present sociological research, studies and reflections, both theoretical and applied, relevant to the major problems of contemporary society and the public issues that require answers from social policy; facilitate dialogue between social sciences that are empirical, explanatory and inclusive in nature and rule-based social sciences; emphasise the discontinuity between the modern and post-modern world, thus highlighting the backdrop of the 21st century. It also seeks to address: themes of general sociological theory; analysis of comparative social systems and social organisations orientated towards wellbeing; the social State; the social private sector; the family; individual and generational life cycles.
In collaboration with known Italian and foreign scholars, it analyses the various sectors of social protection, the labour market, citizenship, migration, the articulation of services and social policies in reference to the national, European and global context.
The structure: a monographic part made up of essays examining sociological issues of particular interest and innovative in nature; a section dedicated to national and international documents and previously unpublished material and reflections on them written by experts in the field; a section of debate and research fields which highlights major social developments from an empirical and theoretical point of view; literary itineraries dedicated to comments on recent publications; reviews and bibliographical reports designed to provide updates on the most important national and international theoretical and empirical research.
