L’articolo ricostruisce il dibattito che si è sviluppato sul finire del secolo scorso attorno al concetto di multiculturalismo fino ad arrivare alla più recente prospettiva post-multiculturale. Dopo una descrizione del quadro degli stranieri presenti e delle leggi che regolano la materia immigrazione in Italia, il lavoro pone l’attenzione sulla crisi del modello multiculturale e il delinearsi di modelli altri di integrazione; più nello specifico, partendo dal concetto di diversità, vengono introdotti i concetti di super-diversità e di iper-diversità evidenziando come questi possano essere visti come risorse o criticità per le città. Alcune note conclusive riflettono sul ruolo della diversità in relazione agli spazi e alle politiche nelle città contemporanee.;
