This article examines the challenges and limitations of current safeguarding policies in Italian sport, with particular attention to gender-based violence. Drawing on the sociology of sport and an intersectional, gendered lens, it argues that violence and discrimination are structurally embedded in sporting contexts and cannot be addressed through neutral or formalistic approaches. The analysis critically assesses Legislative Decree 36/2021 and highlights the need for safeguarding to be integrated with broader welfare policies that promote equity, well-being and structural prevention. The paper advocates for a systemic, culturally transformative approach grounded in intersectionality and collective responsibility and proposes strategic perspectives for more effective safeguarding practices.

L’articolo esamina le sfide e i limiti delle attuali politiche di tutela nello sport italiano, con particolare attenzione alla violenza di genere. Attingendo alla sociologia dello sport e a una prospettiva intersezionale e di genere, sostiene che la violenza e la discriminazione sono strutturalmente radicate nei contesti sportivi e non possono essere affrontate attraverso approcci neutrali o formalistici. L’analisi valuta criticamente il Decreto Legislativo 36/2021 e sottolinea la necessità di integrare la tutela con politiche di welfare più ampie che promuovano equità, benessere e prevenzione strutturale. L'articolo sostiene un approccio sistemico e culturalmente trasformativo, fondato sull'intersezionalità e sulla responsabilità collettiva, e propone prospettive strategiche per pratiche di tutela più efficaci.
