Some proposals to Improve Information Quality in the Area of Criminal Justice Statistics (di Luigi M. Solivetti, Mario Greco, Armando Caputo, Claudio Caterino) - ABSTRACT: During the last few years, a significant growth of interest by private and public user in information concerning criminal justice statistics has been experienced. Official existing statistics which are mainly organised in order to meet the information needs of administrative and bureaucratic nature are capable of meeting this new demand more directed to social contents only in part. Consequently, the need arises to focus on subjects which assume a specific importance for the policy of justice as a whole, and which have been already developed, at least partly, in other advanced countries. By starting from the analysis of the statistical data currently available in the area of criminal justice, this study aims at proposing possible improvements in the gathering and presentation of the statistical data being consistent with the development and the changes in the procedures and in the methods adopted in this sector.
