The concept of Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is analysed inside the neoliberalism model and the social, economic and political alternatives to this model. The most important international and European CSR actions analysed in this paper are: The Global compact of the United Nations, the Us Social investment Forum, the Norms of the Responsibility of Transnational Corporations and Other Business Enterprises with regard to Human Rights of the United Nations, the Declarations of International Labour Organization, the Word Business Council for Sustainable Development, The Social Accountability International Standard SA8000, The European Community Green paper and White paper about Corporate social responsibility, the CSR Europe. In Italy the CSR actions of Italian Government are criticized by several points of view: Unions, Non Governmental Organisations, social Movements and Associations, some Italian Regions with a left Government. The paper presents a typology of different CSR actions.
