The present writing attempts to define the scientific criteria involved in psychological theories, starting from an examination of projective methods and their particular statute within psychometry. In the light of a critical analysis of the basic shortcomings that have developed throughout the history of psychology, the developed thesis is that it is not the nature of the method adopted which assures a scientific approach, but the procedural aspects that are followed; the ability to clearly differentiate the method, object of study and theory concerning the object in question has proved to be of vital importance on the level of scientific procedure. In addition, this counters the illusion of induction and quantification, as well as the mechanistic reductionism that the recent development of neurosciences has dangerously reactivated. Key words: projective psychology, Rorschach, scientific approach and epistemology.
