The paper is focused on the new role and new imagine of metropolis in the post-modern society. The old polis, place of meetings, trade union and common life has begun very big city without identity, every city looks like all others cities and its habitant (post-modern man) is forced to develop not one, but many and different identities to be able to live suitably and response as soon as possible to so many and different social and cultural inputs. It’s a very hard mission; to get it, post-modern man needs to derive his own tradition and story, trying to integrate it with present and future. Keywords: post-modern, not place, metropolitan identity.
