In our society work is an activity carried out to produce goods and services for others, whose value and meaning are determined by the beliefs and social values existing within that society. So, work can significantly contribute to fostering the development of professional identity and also the overall development of identity across the lifespan. The present research work will illustrates the ideas of young Italian adolescents, living in different Italian districts, following the administration an open-ended questionnaire that examined their beliefs regarding working and school. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were carried out on their answers and results will be illustrated about the differences recorded between the youth from the North and those from the South and in connection with gender.
