In this paper we discuss the notion of stereotype and prejudgment which could arise either in the most common and favorauble way or in the strongly negative way, regarding etnic and cultural difference. Therefore we will examin the case of a young rom woman, followed in a psychiatric outpatient setting: clinical description aims to show stereotype and prejudgment’s impact on diagnostic evaluation and usual terapeutic practice in the immigrated patient’s care. Even if stereotype and prejudgment could be misunderstand in usual comunication, a particular reflection on their influence on operator’s mind and language could allow a better comprehension of foreign patient. Key words: prejudgment, immigration, misunderstanding.
