The Social Impact of Alzheimer Disease on Patients with Dementia - The syndrome of dementia is one of the biggest social problems and public health challenges. It leads to a gradual reduction of cognitive, physical and mental abilities with many consequences on the family-life: the progressive deterioration of cognitive and functional abilities of a patient affected by Alzheimer calls for an intensive social care. The lack of integrated public programs increases the burden of work on families and contribute to the process of isolation of families with these patients. It follows that a project of Alzheimer-prevention is needed. The Progetto Cronos proposes a Unit of Alzheimer Assessment, based on a wide welfare program all over Italy, together with a precise diagnostic and therapeutictracking of all the patients admitted to treatment.
