Mc Carthy and the Coen brothers: entirely in the evil - No country for old men is the brother Coen’s film inspired to the Cormac Mc Carthy’s book. In this noir western about America today, the Author of this paper finds an epic narrative and an opportunity for a reflection on Good and Evil. Modern and particularly post-modern books and films no more believe on a manichean conception about Good and Evil and so from a long time they don’t propose representation of reality. Perhaps because, from the eighties reality became consumism, competitiveness, hedonism and therefore a spectacularization of life, at last avoiding, every clear judgement about our way of behaving. And yet in the film as well as the book humour is not lacking: on the contrary it arises from the consciousness that way can no more be run. Key Words: No country for old man; Film; Brothers Coen; Reflection on Good and Evil; Post-Modernism.
