The agenda and the issues of 2008 election campaign on the newspapers - The article presents the results from a research on the agenda setting and the press coverage of the 2008 Italian election campaign. The study took into account issues, space and relevance of the topics covered by the three most popular national newspapers Il Corriere della Sera, la Repubblica, La Stampa, in the eigth weeks before the election. The article shows how in the overall ranking of the issues, elections has been strongly opposed by facts and events related to foreign policy and news stories. Stresses then as the coverage of the election campaign of the three newspapers have promoted a bipolar vision, focused on two main antagonists, and the undisputed leadership of Silvio Berlusconi in the index of newsworthy leader. Finally are taken into account the macro issues that have characterized the eight weeks, divided between political issues and policy issues, and the sources of news.
